How to Spot an Authentic Jersey
BUYER'S GUIDE
Not all jerseys are created equal. Whether you're buying your club's new kit or hunting a retro classic, knowing what separates an authentic-quality shirt from a cheap knock-off protects your money — and your pride. Here's what we check on every V Store jersey.
1. The Badge & Crest
Authentic crests are woven or heat-applied with clean edges and accurate colors — never a flat, blurry print. Gold details should look metallic, not yellow.
2. The Fabric
Real match-quality shirts use lightweight, moisture-wicking polyester with a subtle tonal weave or pattern. If it feels like a thin cotton t-shirt, it's not the real deal.
3. The Stitching
Look at the collar, cuffs and side seams. Elite stitching is tight and even. Loose threads and crooked seams are the first sign of a fake.
4. Player vs Fan Version
Player (authentic) versions use bonded, heat-sealed sponsor logos and an athletic cut. Fan (replica) versions use stitched or printed logos and a relaxed fit — both are legitimate, they're just built for different uses.
5. Personalization
Official name & number printing uses the league's licensed font, correctly spaced and heat-pressed. Wrong fonts or peeling letters are a giveaway.
